Day Surgery Patients
I will always see you post-operatively before you leave the hospital so that we can discuss the surgery and plan your recovery once you get home We will usually make an appointment with the rooms to be seen 2 weeks after the surgery. If there are any problems at all prior to your first post-operative visit please ring the rooms immediately.
Longer Stay Patients
I will see you daily until you are discharged from hospital. The actual time required in hospital will depend on the procedure and your progress, and as you would expect , not everyone is the same.
During your hospital visit we will start physiotherapy, which will vary depending on the procedure. Mercy Hospital has just recently opened an excellent Specialist Rehabilitation Service for post-operative elective orthopaedic surgery patients. See the link below:
